Steel Pricing FAQ
All prices are indicative FOB China prices in USD per metric ton (USD/MT). They represent factory EXW price plus standard inland freight to major Chinese ports (Shanghai, Tianjin, Qingdao). Steel prices are updated regularly based on current market conditions, Shanghai Futures Exchange data, Tangshan spot market, and major mill announcements (Baosteel, Shougang, Ansteel, TISCO). Key factors include: (1) Iron ore and coking coal prices — raw material costs account for ~60% of steel price; (2) China production policies — capacity cuts, environmental restrictions; (3) Global demand — construction, automotive, infrastructure spending; (4) Exchange rates — USD/CNY movements; (5) Freight costs — container shipping rates; (6) Seasonal patterns — typically stronger Q1 and Q3 demand in China. Coating weight, base metal thickness, and surface quality also affect final product pricing.
